Go Bethnal Green and Bow! Let this guy be fireproof. Let him not be lying.
Not that anyone will hear about this in the US. You would be surprised at how few folks here listen to the BBC or read the Scotsman or the Edinburgh Evening News, which seem to be the only places to hear about this story.
Of course, his statements were made in an obscure little place. That the British burned down. Years ago. So...oh, OK it was in the United States Senate in Washington. But still, why would we be reading about this non-story? It's not like we were once again trying to divert blame for arming Saddam and then blowing up Iraq...Oh. OK...thats exactly what we are doing.

Unfortunately Jerry you are absolutely correct. Neither the Post nor the NY Times gave any mention on their respective papers/websites today. They were both too busy - especially the lickspittle Post - vilifying Newsweek. It’s a pathetic country/world we live in - if only we had more Galloway's in public office - a dreamer's lament.

Hi Cookie, FYI according to Webster's Third New International Dictionary - a monster opus i just happen to have sitting on my desk, a lickspittle is "an abject parasite or toady." One of my favorite usages is from the movie Dr. Zhivago where Klaus Kinsky, playing the political prisoner responsible for cleaning up the “human night soil” on the train taking Zhivago and his family out of Moscow, refers to the armed guard as a lickspittle - with his thick eastern european accent it sounds like leekspeetle - hey what can i say i am easily amused -
