It's a Fine Day on Tampa Bay to Expose Moronic Republicans

Not only is it a bright happy warm sunshiny day in Tampa today, but boy has it been a fun day for exposing the hypocrisy of the Republicans too.

1. During the presidential campaign last year, the republicans were all about dissin' on Kerry for wanting to modify the Patriot Act.

During the presidential campaign, the Bush campaign was relentless
in attacking John Kerry for his willingness to alter the Patriot Act.
One of the campaign’s first ads featured a female voiceover darkly
warning voters about Kerry’s agenda, charging, “On the war on terror:
weaken the Patriot Act used to arrest terrorists and protect America.”

But now guess who's messin' with the Patriot Act??

Right! It's brand spanky new U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales will propose some “technical
modifications” to the controversial USA Patriot Act today in an effort
to address the concerns of critics and ensure that the anti-terrorism
legislation is renewed by Congress later this year, according to a
Justice Department official.

In an appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Gonzales will
support changes in the law concerning secret warrants for financial
documents, library data and other business records, according to the
Justice official. The changes would clearly limit the use of such
warrants to national security investigations and would allow targets to
mount legal challenges to the search, the official said.

2. Conservatives these days are all gettin' cosy with the newly deceased Pope, and stuff. But they are forgettin' about when he first came out against the Iraq War and what they said about him then.

COLMES: …And before you respond, let me just put up what the pope says.

“No to war,” says Pope John Paul II. “during his annual address to scores
of diplomatic emissaries to the Vatican… ‘War is not always inevitable,’
he said. ‘It is always a defeat for humanity.’”

Are these a bunch of wild-eyed liberal loonies?

HANNITY: Yes.

The Pope, a wild-eyed liberal looney? I triple-dog-dare Mr. Hannity to say that today.

3. And I guess this isn't really hypocrisy, but it is downright funny. Pete Coors, who recently lost he Senate seat to John Salazar in Colorado is on the short list of folks to be the new Ambassador to Canada. Pete Coors. The learned man who said this:

During a debate, primary opponent Rep. Bob Schaffer asked Coors if
[Canadian Prime Minister] Martin was right about a trade issue with
Canada.

“Paul Martin has suggested that that border be opened again and Canadian
beef begin to flow into the United States,” Schaffer said. “I’m curious,
Pete, whether you agree with Paul Martin on this matter.”

Coors ambled to the microphone and replied: “I don’t know Paul Martin’s
whole position on this issue. I’m not sure I know who Paul Martin is.”

Yep. That's exactly who we need to be the Ambassador to Canada.

Cookie, I'm very concerned! You didn't mention penises, royal marriage - ie:"Oh, Charles, use your exquisitely large ear", erections, ejaculations, or masturbation in this post at all.

Are those Barlow Girls starting to wear you thin?

Maybe he won't be able to find Canada. On another matter, do you have Mel Martinez's e-mail? I understand he won't get a "public" one as he doesn't want to be bothered. I can't find any e-mail for him, public or private.

No, I haven't heard those sex tapes. I'm a sweet little innocent 10-year old girl. Don't you see the picture??

Actually, I did try to find them just now unsuccessfully, and have now given up. I found a lot of other fascinating stuff on my journey though. Is it getting hot in here?
